Wordless Wednesday: These People Make Me Look Bad

So I finally got around to going through the wee ones' Valentine's bags from school. We don't keep or eat the candy or the valentines themselves, but tons of people are now sending in pencils or notepads or other actually semi-useful goodies that I do want to keep. Thus I spent this weekend making a garbage and a keep pile from each of the wee ones' bags.

Then I got to this.

Seriously, people? You're making me look bad. I had Mister Man slap on a piece of chocolate to each of his valentines I got half price at Wal-M@rt the day before in the car on the way to school. And this is what you create. An iP*d valentine. From scratch. It even has an appropriate playlist. I hear this was customized for each child.

I may have to step it up a notch next year.

Wordless Wednesday: White Belt

I wrote last month about how Mister Man was struggling with his behavior associated with his autism. I was having a really bad day, but much of it was exemplified by his attempt to move up to the "big kid" class at Tae Kwon Do.

It turns out that we got a chance to try it out for the remainder of January to see how he did once he got more used to it - as he told me later that he was very excited and nervous. On February 1, the owner of the studio asked him if he wanted to have a white uniform, and he about passed out from happiness.

I officially have a white belt in the big kid class. Even better? At last night's class he earned his first white belt stripe (they do it only for white belts to help them know where and when they are progressing, with four stripes required before promotion is even a consideration).

Wordless Wednesday - A Fashion Statement

My husband came downstairs the other night after changing into more comfortable clothes after work. He has a bit of a uniform that ... doesn't make it outside. He wears flannel pajama pants topped with a fraying hoodie. None of it matches, and he has a variety of pajama pants and hoodies from which to choose. I have no issue with it, although it sometimes makes me giggle.

The other night, though? He took it to a whole new level. I'm still giggling. Apparently our house was a little cold that night?

What's your style when you're hanging out at home?

Wordles Wednesday - Weird Cats

My cats are weird. I know this. I'm ok with this. They make me giggle most of the time. That said, I could be wrong. Maybe they're just extremely safety conscious. Maybe they just want to go with us when we leave the house? Maybe they want their own overpriced cat beds?

I dunno. What's your theory?

Wordless Wednesday: Weirdest Kids Ever

It's official. I do truly have the weirdest kids ever. This was what I saw when I peeked outside on Friday morning while waiting for the bus and carpool to arrive.

Why yes, yes they are shoveling the garbage cans. With their shovels. For some unknown reason. Of course, this was also after I looked outside originally and saw Little Miss scraping snow off the top with her glove and then licking it. Ewww. Yuck. So. Grossed. Out.

Wordless Wednesday - Halloween Costumes

I hate "celebrating" holidays early. I've posted before about how I want to savor the season I'm in now and not be rushed into the next holiday. Apparently I'm losing that battle. I saw Halloween decorations and costumes in stores in July. July, people.

Fortunately, Halloween is going to be easy around my house this year. Little Miss is going to be a storm trooper again this year, so that costume gets another workout. And Mister Man walked up to me the other day announcing that he'd made his own Halloween costume.

I was a little afraid when he first told me. If you're a parent, you can understand why. I asked him to show me his costume, and now... I'm pretty ok with it. Though I'm still giggling. But hey, that's $30 I don't have to spend on a costume, right?

So ummmm can you figure out what he's supposed to be?

Wordless Wednesday - The Recession Is Still In Force

We've heard a lot lately about how the recession is over and thigns are getting better. While there are many who might disagree with this from personal experience with their own finances and lives, I have a bigger piece of evidence.

Look closely.

Our poor town couldn't afford to reprint the signs from the sidewalk sale that they used last year. Look again. Do you see it?

*giggle*

Wordless Wednesday - S'Mores!

Seriously? This is summer. Hanging out at the bonfire, roasting marshmallows, chomping away, and hopefully not running out of chocolate. Oh, and did I mention giant multi-forked branches?

Score.

The only sad part? I'm beginning to wonder if these children are my flesh and blood. Little Miss ate half her s'more and said she was full and ran off to play. Mister Man ate his whole (giant) s'more and then handed me his plate, saying he was full. No one wanted a second s'more. Really, these are my children?

I have lots of work to do, I can see now.

Wordless Wednesday - I Am Not A Cake Decorator

I bake things to taste good. Looking good is beyond me. As I prepared to head out to Little Miss's birthday party with her completely plain chocolate frosted (yummy) cake, I panicked. I grabbed the purple gel writer I happened to have on hand and stuck in a couple extra froggy cookies from her goodie bag. The good news is that you can't see how the purple gel ran in this photo my friend took.

I thought being funny might help, thus the "Hoppy" birthday for her frog themed party. I have a feeling no bakery is going to hire me anytime soon!

Wordless Wednesday - What Not To Wear!

Unfortunately, you can't tell that she has her t-shirt Daisy Duke tied in front because her arm is blocking it. That really completed the look. She did this on purpose. Or so I assume.

Seriously. Don't. Ever. Not on Memorial Day. Or Labor Day. Or the Fourth of July. Never. Yes, this was one of my neighbors, and no (as my husband asked), she isn't pregnant.

Wordless Wednesday - Mister Man's Photos

Mister Man has had the opportunity to be a part of a photo "competition" that requires him to take photos that we need to narrow down to his favorite 25. In the course of a little over a week, I let him borrow my Sony A33 several times to take photos.

He took over 1,300 photos in that time. 1,300.

Many of them turned out like this:

But we also ended up with some like this.

I'm a proud mama.
