That's A Lot Of Love

Little Miss loves me. A lot. And she tells me frequently. I'm still trying to figure out if this is something that she does because she's that demonstrative, because she's really insecure and needs to be reaffirmed all the time (ummm unlikely knowing her), or whether she just thinks it's funny. Regardless, we had what I thought was a rather entertaining conversation yesterday.

Little Miss: Mommy, I love you.
Me: Yes, my little peanut, I know.
Little Miss: And you love me, too!
Me: I do. And how do you know that? (Here I'm expecting some four year old version of because I show her on a daily basis.)
Little Miss: Because you've told me like a thousand times.
Me: Oh, I think I've told you more often than that.
Little Miss: Ok, you've told me you love me a hundred times!
Me: Ummm, definitely more than a hundred times.
Little Miss: Fine. You've told me one hundred forty-nine times then.

Apparently I haven't been doing such a good job teaching her to count.

That is too funny. Madalyn likes to constantly be reassured that I love her. She tells me all the time. And then notes that I love her. Even when she's bad. Even when...

I just know that the dots can be filled in by some horrible thing she has done. And this is the way that I find out about disasters in my house!

Love this! My kids would do that, then add 'times infinity.' I don't think they had a clue what that word meant, but they knew it was a lot.

You have done a good job of letting her know she is loved. Counting will come later.

LOL I love it, Caden is still in the telling mama he loves him, Cole now at the ripe age of 5 thinks he's too cool for that! LOL

She is so cute.
We always say "I love you millions and gazillions".

What a sweatheart! Cooper has been on a big "Mommy, I love you" kick as well . . . I will never tire of hearing it, though like you, when I have heard it for the 27th time today, I have to wonder what's up.

Oh, so sweet... out of the mouths of babes. I remember those heartfelt words from my boys, especially when they were around 3, "I lo-o-ove you, Mommy."

And now they are all grown men and they still end every phone call with "I love you, Mom. G'bye."

LMAO that is too cute Michelle. But coming up eith that number off the top of her head is pretty amazing for a four year old! You are loved many times over I'm sure

Kat - Good to know it isn't just me. And ummm yeah, sometimes it's just before disaster strikes. Is it bad to be suspicious?

Tara - Aww, that's so sweet. Mister Man knows what infinity *is* (and google, too), but I think the concept still eludes him. He loves to use it in conversation though. Ahhh, kids!

Unknown Mami - Awww, thank you! We are definitely still working on counting, as 17 appears to not be a part of her set.

Alexis - At 5? Yikes! Although I'm lucky that so far at 6 Mister Man will still tell me. I'm betting that Little Miss stops first though.

WeaselMomma - Ooo I like that one, too! Good phraseology.

Nichole - So I'm not the only one who's suspicious. Good!

Pat - You have raised some great men. I can only hope the wee ones are half as wonderful.

Kelly - Aren't they? And aren't I? Counting my blessings here!

Marcy - Oh coming up with that number I'm sure is the work of her brother. He LOVES numbers and we talk about them regularly (which is why he knows what google is). They're weird -- in a good way, of course!

She is a gem. She makes me smile every time I read about her. But it's probably less than a thousand times. ;)

Michelle February 22, 2010 at 10:03 PM

Karen - Maybe less than a thousand... maybe one hundred forty-nine? ;)

Mrs4444 - Yep, that's what my face does, too!
