Made In America
I'm so proud.
I don't shop in the dollar store that often, but sometimes I forget and I wander in there. Like when I was looking for some cheap thank you notes. Ha!
They didn't have any.
However, while browsing, I did find a few things that I had to buy. With Mister Man's vision exercises, we have one exercise where we are doing a lot of erasing of pencil marks. We've already gone though almost an entire eraser, so when I found six large erasers for a dollar, I bought them. Ditto with the four glue sticks for a dollar (gotta glue on those Labels for Education to get those bonus points!).
When I got home, I flipped over the erasers for some unknown reason, and I got sad. Really, really sad. Here, see if you can figure out why.
The irony finally really hit me yesterday. Wanna know why? This was my final purchase at the dollar store.
I'm thinking I need to send it to the erasers manufacturer.

Parites: is that French? :)
omg, lmao. I have to admit there are only certain things I will buy at the local Dollar General - but haven't seen any errors of that nature, hahahaha. Have fun if you throw a parity
And now we know why those packages probably ended up at the Dollar Store in the first place. Sheesh.
One of my fave segments that Jay Leno used to do on the Tonight Show was "things from the $.99 store". Hilarious stuff. Some of it I've seen show up on Fail Blog.
That is so funny! I'm always amazed to see how often products or commercials have grammar or spelling mistakes. My kids always want to go into the 99 cent store. I know that I'll be coming out with tons of junk if I give in!
My aunt once bought my daughter a set of stampers in the dollar store. They were labeled "Art Tampons"
I have never noticed a misspelling at the dollar store but I will have to start paying closer attention. But I am the world's worst speller so I might not even notice.
I love finding goofs like that. It makes me feel better about my own bad spelling skills.
The dollar store once had umbrellas -- for a dollar. Given the number of umbrellas my wife goes through every winter, it was a deal I couldn't pass up. I bought 30 of them!
I'm always finding typos like that, but it really cost me one time. I was working at a PR firm and one of our clients was starting a business call The Womens Fitness Center. She'd already had all the signs made, business cards, letter head, etc. She was so mad at me when I said, "You need an apostrophe." We wound up losing the business and I'm pretty sure it was because of me.
I don't think I could buy something with a spelling mistake - at least if I noticed it in the store. Not that I'm a perfect speller (although I do lots of look-ups if at all unsure), but I expect when I buy something that spell-check/proofreading has been done.
Was it made in the USA? Just wondering...
We need to get you out more.
Now that's funny!
Melisa - Sadly, no. French is my only other language I can sorta claim, and I can guarantee it isn't French. Italian maybe?
MaBunny - I will admit that it isn't ONLY at the dollar store that I find such ... errors. But they do seem to occur more frequently there.
Angie - Good point. This would actually work well for the Fail Blog, wouldn't it?
Kelly - Ohhhh, don't get me started. The most complext things, I can understand, but some of the basic issues that aren't addressed (insure you know what you're doing - from our Scholastic Book fair credit card instructions) drive me nuts.
Gina - Wow. See, those I might buy several of to keep as a joke. Did your daughter ever figure it out?
Together We Save - I think even my kindergartener might have noticed that one. In fact, when he gets home tonight, I might have to go test that theory.
Tara - Ahhh, yes. The screw ups of others making us feel less incompetent. I'm well familiar with that one :)
Teacher Tom - Ummm yeah. That might have cost you the business, but you're right. In fact, I was cringing reading it until I got to the point where you knew there should be an apostrophe. Phew!
Carol Lynn - I didn't notice the spelling mistake until I was reading it on the way home, but I'm probably with you. I'm far from perfect, but ... c'mon!
WeaselMomma - Sounds good to me. Now how do you propose we do that? :)
Jennifer - Funny, sad... something along those lines anyway!
Parites are the young of parasites, so EWWW.
I'm pretty sure that everything in the dollar store was made in China.
That is too funny! I guess you are right, one more reason not to shop at the dollar store. LOL
I, too, pride myself in the fact that I know how to spell and use punctuation correctly and it makes me wonder who is in charge of spelling, sometimes!
Over from BPOTW, and not only do I want to be invited to that parity, but I'm wondering just what kind of parity you'll wish you'd brought your eraser to!
Pearl
Pat - See, now that is one little tidbit of trivia I could have done without.
Clueless Mama - Yeah... the dollar store is maybe not the most reliable place. ;)
Betty - I'm right there with you. And I shudder to think at how much the person doing the proofing there was paid!
Pearl - Hopefully no parity that I threw....
