Happy Mother's Day!

Ok, so I've been very much MIA. Needless to say, I've been swamped with my preschool fundraiser and then I got sick. I'm still recovering and may actually head to bed as soon as I get this posted, but I figure I ought to write something again at some point!

Regardless, Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. Whether you're doing it on your own or in a great partnership, you're doing the best you can, and today is the day to celebrate the joy you bring to those little lives and the impact you make!

Around here, I was spoiled with the wee ones waking me up - Mister Man in particular - with a special present. He gave me a dollar bill from his piggy bank. Awwww.

He also created a lovely hat from a coffee filter for the Mother's Day tea at his school (and no, I will not be posting any pictures of me in it, thank you very much), which was oh so sweet, as well as a lovely nosegay. And the requisite marigolds. I now have six.

Little Miss provided me with the handprint lilies that she created on a laminated sheet of paper. She also "wrote" me a greeting on the back. While it's in her handwriting, I don't believe her claims that she spelled it out all by herself.

Yes, I will be putting it in her memory box to save forever.

My husband also provided me with presents. He sent me an Edible Arrangements basket, as he does regularly for major holidays. It was a cute little orange pail, and the wee ones were excited for the fruit I'd share with them.

My only disappointment? The strawberries in this bunch were way overripe. In fact, they've already started to mold, and I put it in the fridge immediately after receiving it. The fruit we've had before has always been perfect, and after a bit of dithering, I called to ask if there was a problem with the strawberries.

They claimed there were no issues and that I must have just gotten the last of the previous batch and offered to give me a free box of chocolate covered strawberries to make up for it. At least it was something.

I drove over to pick them up, and I received six chocolate covered strawberries to replace my ten chocolate covered strawberries on my arrangement. That was a disappointment. Even Mister Man didn't want to eat the chocolate covered strawberries on the plant, and he's not exactly a food connoisseur (yet).

I think we'll give them another shot, as this is a new franchise, but I may be at the end of receiving healthy (ok, relatively healthy) and unique presents from Edible Arrangements. And that's too bad.

Fortunately, my husband also picked up a gift certificate for massages, and those don't go stale. Now if I could just find some free time to schedule that appointment, I'd be all good!

Here's hoping you are properly spoiled on your Mother's Day.

PS I have a new giveaway up for a Family Pizza Party from Pillsbury on my other site.

Yum, and Edible Arrangement! And the coffee filter hat is darling - I'd love to see a pic. ;)

Happy Mother's Day!

Okay, I am jealous of those upcoming massages. Glad that you're feeling better. Sounds like you had a great Mother's Day! You deserve it :)

We must be doing something right - so nice when the kids enjoy doing for others, not just for themselves. Especially for mom! Arden came back from her Dad's house with a "withdrawal" from her piggybank and announced she was taking me to the movies. Iron Man2 - LOL. Hope you feel better soon. Debbie.

Sounds like you had a fabulous Mom's Day! I've kept several cards my boys have made for me over the years.

Two of my sons remembered to call me; middle son will call today as he was too busy with doing Mother's Day for his wife yesterday.

My Mother's Day gift from Jer was that I didn't have to prepare any food for him and he didn't tease me for spending hours on blogging.

Sounds like a wonderful day, although I am sorry to hear you've been sick! Hope you are feeling much better soon!

I miss strawberries so much, I picked some up at the store to try this weekend. I am about to have a couple. Last year I thought I had a possible allergic reaction, but I haven't tried them since, and I am so tired of missing out on my favorite berry. So I am going to try a couple and keep the benadryl handy!

Hugs!

Karen - Yeah... I bet you'd love to see a picture. I was just impressed that the moms all kept their hats on through the whole performance. Well, with a couple small exceptions, of course.

Laura - It is ... and they actually found me and sent me an email today. I may have to add some more info on this later. It is a shame, as we've had really good luck with Edible Arrangements in years past and have used them as gifts in many situations (including in place of flowers for many funerals).

WeaselMomma - Fun, aren't they? My wee ones did good. And my husband didn't do too badly in the gift department either. Of course, I'd rather have time than stuff.

Kelly - Aww, thanks. And ummm the upcoming massages? I'll let you know when I get around to them! It may be awhile.

Debbie - I love that Arden did that for you! She's such a sweet girl. Just wait until she can chauffeur you, too.

Pat - I know I'll be down to the calls (I hope!) from the wee ones one day. I think I might have to keep some of these cards for that day. Gotta love that your husband gives you presents still, too. Thoughtful ones, even.

Angela - Oh I have my fingers crossed for you. I hope that wasn't an allergy last year. I couldn't stand to never have strawberries again.

Oh man that is a bummer about the strawberries, glad you got a massage GC :)

Those gifts are so sweet, come on I want to see you in that hat :)

Happy Mother Days

Good for you for not just letting that go; most people do, I think. I hope you get that massage SOON!

Alexis - See the update... And no, no you won't see me in the hat. In fact, it went out with the trash today!

Mrs4444 - I actually did go get a massage this week. I needed it. But I spent an hour and a half weeding sitting in one position yesterday, and one muscle in my back is screaming today. If only I had gone tonight ;)
