Yeah, I Knew That
Tonight, my husband was helping Mister Man with his shower while I got Little Miss into bed and read her Peter Pan (again).
Daddy: Ok, Mister Man, I've got your back and your neck. Can you scrub all the rest of your body?
Mister Man: Where do I need to wash?
Daddy: Everything.
Mister Man: What's everything?
Daddy: Your entire body. All the parts of it.
Mister Man: Even my private parts?
Daddy: Yes, you pen1s and your test1cles and everything need to be washed.
Mister Man: Daddy, do you have a pen1s and test1cles?
Daddy: Yes, why?
Mister Man: Do girls have pen1ses and test1cles?
Daddy: No, they have different equipment.
Mister Man: I know that, Daddy. I was just making sure you did, too.
Ahhh, the joys of parenting small children.

Gotta love the 'just checking' attitude. What would you guys do without him? :)
Hee hee, that's cute! Gotta love it when the kids think they know more than the parents.
Just FYI, it rears its ugly head again in the teen years. :)
Morninglight Mama - According to my husband, he was totally serious that he was checking. I do a lot of the Socratic type stuff with him, and apparently it's sinking in. I just wasn't expecting it quite like this ;)
Melisa - Oh yeah, way cute! Good to know that this is a stage that we'll be revisiting soon. Way too soon for my tastes!
FYI when laughing hysterically Diet Dr Pepper coming out of your nose burns... really bad.
That's hilarious!!!!
Kori - Ummm, sorry. It wasn't my intention, really :)
Beth - Apparently you aren't the only one thinking so. Here's hoping you at least weren't drinking anything while reading!
So funny! Your Little Man is a hoot and very smart too!
Take care - Kellan
LOL! I love that Mister Man was making sure Daddy was up on his anatomy!
Would he have been surprised it your hubby had said everyone had the same equipment? ;)
The joys indeed!
ROFL @ the test from your son!
Kellan - Aww, thanks! I think he's smart (most of the time anyway; sometimes I wonder who replaced his brain with cotton candy)!
Melissa - Umm I think he would have. He figured out pretty quick when Little Miss started potty training that she was VERY different from him.
J Cosmo Newbery - Yup. Still not quite enough to actually want another one though!
Cookie - I know! Can you imagine his reaction had my husband had the "wrong" answer? Maybe next time he can play that game....
Well, it is great that little Mister Man was ready to use that conversation as a TEaching Moment to help his Daddy understand some things! ;)
Thanks for an awesome laugh.
Nicki - Isn't it though? I'm glad he could clear it up for Daddy.... And you wonder why he says (Mister Man) that he wants to be a teacher when he grows up. And a special needs teacher at that, awww!
Weaselmomma - Glad I could help. Even better that you found it entertaining :)
And the next question was, "uh, how exactly do you know this?" haha :) What will be even funnier is when he talks about this conversation to other adults...
Thanks for submitting your post again!
Yeah, they don't warn you about those kinds of conversations when you decide to become a parent. I usually run screaming out of the room with my hands over my ears when that happens to me. (visiting from BPOTW)
Oh that is priceless! Too cute!
BPOTW - Yeah.... I'm really looking forward to some of the conversations he repeats to his teachers, etc. And he does know the difference. He's a very curious kid who constantly asks questions, and when he asks a question, we give the honest answer. I can't quite bring myself to lie to him... even about the uncomfortable stuff.
JourneytoFamily - Nope, I never heard a word about stuff like this before Mister Man came along. Fortunately, I have managed to overcome the screaming out of the room reaction. When he's 8, 9, 14, 16, etc I do want him to be comfortable enough with me and Daddy that he'll still talk to us and not see all this stuff as forbidden fruit (no pun intended). We'll see how that goes!
Krissy - Thanks! It definitely makes me giggle!
You're smart to write about this! My kids are 12, 10, 6 and 4 now. When my 12 yr old was a toddler/preschooler she came up with some great lines and my own mother said "you should write that down" ... Well, I didn't write them down, and I'm trying to remember all those cute lines now (they come to me, every once in a while!)
Bwahahahaha!!!! Let's just hope he's not informing the little boys and girls at school about the differences.
Dawn - I know, I know... there are some that I hear on a daily basis that I wish I could remember but that slip right out of my head as soon as the next to do task comes up. At least I'm capturing some!
Karen - Ummm, yeah. Thanks. I hadn't thought about that. I'm about to become one of *those* parents, aren't I?
I'm glad your son is checking up on his dad!
Elizabeth - I suppose I can use all the help I can get to make sure we keep Daddy in line. This one was a bit ... over the top. Daddy wasn't sure WHAT to think :)
