Daddies Make Bad Patients
Achoo, he says with a wheeze,
Behold he begins to sneeze!
Cuz he down for the count
Dizziness does mount.
Even Mommy grows weary
For Daddy acts all teary.
Gone are the days of ease;
He does nothing but sneeze.
Indeed Dads aren't great
Just rely on their mate (for)
Kindness, nursing and care
Lovingly patient and fair.
Must we be the only ones
Never allowed sick nor fun?
Oh to be a dad some day
Playing sick we laze away,
Queen of the castle again
Resting, asleep in the den.
Still, we know that's only a dream
The patient requests some more steam
Until the sickness is gone (up)
Very late, we still see the dawn.
When at last they heeded
X-rays not needed
Yet doctors they had to see
Zzzzz's -- not yet, not me.
PS - This is what happens when my husband gets sick. With "bronchitis" he self-diagnosed. He even stayed home from school today and got a sub. I was responsible for working from home yesterday and today. And wrangling children, trying to keep them away from him. And tending to his every want and need so he wouldn't need to touch anything and spread germs to the rest of us. And whoooo tomorrow is a day off school for the wee ones, so I get to try to entertain them while keeping the miserable patient happy. When's my spa weekend again? Oh. Right. I don't have one planned!
I'm going to bed. At least until that little bell rings again signaling that I'm needed....

Loved your poem....husbands are the worst at being sick.
Bronchitis is no fun. Hubby had it for almost two weeks - drove me NUTS!!
Hope yours feels better soon.
Daddies are the worst when it comes to getting sick I hope hubby perks up soon till then I hear drinking wine helps! LOL
I hate when my husband gets sick. He is a miserable patient. Great poem and funny too! Also, I just wanted to let you know that I'm following your blog. For some reason, my profile pic is not showing on your list. I heard that there have been some nutty things going on with Blogger this week :) Looking forward to reading more of your blog!
Bridget - Thanks, and YES they are. If he touches one more thing that the kids use or gets his germs in one more bathroom, I'm making him go get a hotel room ;)
MaBunny - Ohhh don't even say two weeks. I can't do this for that long.
Steph - You hear wine helps? Hmmm, I may have to try that one out!
septembermom - Well thanks for following. I'm glad you like it (or I assume you do!) :) I think all men just make bad patients unfortunately. I'm still waiting for when my sick days kick in!
So if he self diagnose is he REALLY sick??? ;) I think mama definitely deserves a spa day after this week!!
Methinks you should book that spa day now. And when it comes, you be sure to go, even if you have to call in sick from other duties, LOL!
Mama Kat - I didn't say it... but I will admit to thinking it. And hinting at it to my husband. I'm all for your theory, but:
Angela - The rough part is that I've yet to manage to take a day off work yet this year, so scheduling that spa day is rough. I've had it in the back of my mind that I'm going to take off a day when the wee ones are in daycare and my husband at work, but considering that it doesn't look like I'm going to get to take spring break off to spend with the fam... I'm not too optimistic. Someday though. Is May too late? ;)
