I'm Afraid Of Dying. And Cockroaches.
I love blogging, partly because writing and posting - and vlogging - makes me think. It makes me reflect on things that I might otherwise blithly smile and nod at before moving on. This week, Lee Reyes-Fournier from Couple Dumb has a great question for our #VlogMom prompt.
Name your three fears...
And so I did. It took a lot of reflection, because I'm generally not a fearful person - the creaking noises I head downstairs as I was changing for bed last Friday when my husband wasn't home at 11:30pm the exception that proves the rule, of course.
My fears? They're pretty irrational. But thinking more about it, isn't that what fears are? So take a look, and then tell me what you're afraid of!
Oh, and excuse the way I look this time? I haven't slept well all week (yay headaches that won't go away).

I think you look gorgeous! It seems bug fears are pretty common. And I know that all moms worry constantly about our babies. xoxo
Crickets! The black ones are so creepy to me. I'm not only afraid of them (silly, I know) but actually terrified of them. I blame my uncle.
(Love your blog!) ~~~Vickie
Cockroaches!! I wrote about it a LONG time ago, yet it is still my most visited post! ACK!
my other two fears, rats & empty bank accounts!
Great vlog :-)
Cockroaches? When I was a child, living in Taiwan, we had flying cockroaches inside our house THREE INCHES LONG. FLYING AROUND. And let me just say that it was not extraordinary. When you lived in conditions like that, it was just a norm. Now? I'd die a painful death, just like you.
I totally have irrational fears about car crashes and my kiddos in terrible accidents. Sometimes my mind goes crazy places and I don't like it a bit. Since DS' concussion, I've been traumatized to the point where I'm silly overprotective. I definitely can relate to these!
Tracy - Thank you! You are so kind :) I'm amazed by how much focus there was on bugs and death, no?
Vickie - Crickets? Oddly, those are some of my favorite bugs. Because as much as I am wigged out by cockroaches, I still do have favorite bugs.
Dwana - You know I'm going to have to go look up that post now, right? I thought about putting empty bank accounts as one of my fears, but the others overruled them!
Sandra - I am not reading this comment. Lalalalalalalala! I can't hear you!
My number one ongoing fear is public speaking. I've finally gotten to where people can't tell I'm nervous, but my heart is always beating really fast when I'm speaking in front of a group and my voice gets a bit hoarse. I, too, started having flashes (after our first child was born) of me and my kids dying in a car crash similar to scenarios that you've imagined...of my child or children dying in a car that I am driving and we are hit by an oncoming car. That fear has pretty well dissipated. My big fear now is our country falling off a cliff financially unless we get our budget/finances straightened out soon. So many economists are predicting dire consequences for the US if we continue on the path our leaders are taking us. Cockroaches kind of creep me out, but I'm not afraid of them, I just think they are disgusting.
I said spiders in my video but I could have very easily said cockroaches. Girrrrrllll, I have some cockroach stories I could tell you but it would freak BOTH of us out. They are vile, filthy, disgusting creatures.
And nothing wrong with checking every time you go through a intersection. You can't trust anyone!
