Froooooooggy!

On our way to a Northwestern game earlier this fall, Mister Man decided to entertain Little Miss by reading one of her favorite books (we LOVE the Froggy books around here -- it's all she gets from the library).

As I was listening to him read, I realized that he was doing so in a sing-song voice. And that I actually knew the tune. And he for the most part was managing to get the meter to match the tune.

Luckily, I had my camera with me, so I captured some of it on video. As is typical, he stopped shortly after I began recording, even though he'd been doing it for the ten minutes prior. Still cute.

Ten points if you can name that tune!

You can tell how interested he is in reading. I could not guess the tune, but I'm sure I'll be kicking myself once I found out its name. We love those books here in our house. My 6 year old enjoyed watching Mister Man read.

Looks to me like Mister Man is getting taller by the minute too!

Handsome and smart, great combination!

As soon as I saw the title of this post, I went "whaaaat" in my head. Crunch munch crunch.

Gosh, I love to hear kids read. Great job!

I don't care about the tune. I won't even guess. It's adorable!

Is that the Oompa Loompa tune from the original Willie Wonka movie?

I don't know what the tune is, but he is awesome!

That sounded like the Oompa Loompa song to me.

I'm clueless as to the tune ... is everyone else right? Oopma Loompa? Hilarious. What a good big brother, though!!

Wow, Mr. Man is a good reader! I don't know the tune. I'm very impressed at how smoothly and fluently he reads. I bet Little Miss loved it and she's eager to be able to read like that herself some day.

That is so sweet Mister Man reading to his sister, and singing too. It did sound like the Oompa Lumpa tune.

Kelly - Nope, you can't tell there. You can tell when he's holding a book reading as he's walking down the stairs, when he wakes up in the morning and turns on his light to read until it's "really" time to wake up, when you can't get his attention because he's buried in a book, when he gets carsick from reading in the car but still doesn't stop... ;) The kid's a bookworm.

Shelly - Yep, I do the same thing. Good to know the title hit home!

Karen - Isn't it sweet? Little Miss doesn't read yet, but she'll "read" books, and it's so cute to have her read to you. I should get a video of that, too.

A Musing Mom - Awww, glad you think so!

Tom - Why yes, yes it is. And no, he hasn't seen that movie to the best of my knowledge. It's those little things that really throw you. Why he thought that was the perfect accompaniment, I don't know. But I liked it!

Yvonne - Actually, the wee ones wouldn't like it. *I* would though. Mister Man doesn't go anywhere near sauce, sadly. And Little Miss has a dairy allergy that sorta makes alfredo sauce verboten. Which really just means more for me....

Unknown Mami - Awww, you're so sweet!

WeaselMomma - Tom gets the ten points, but you get an honorary gold star. Silly boy.

Hyacynth - He is a good big brother -- most of the time! And yep, everyone was right.

Pat - He is a great reader, and she soooo wants to be like him. It's entertaining to watch her use her finger to "follow" words on the page when she's "reading" even though her words and the words on the page don't match at all.

Tara - It was the Oompa Loompa tune, and it was sweet of him. It saves me from having to read to both of them all the time and not have any adult conversation with my husband, and they both love when he reads to her. Awww.

Cookie - I think they're hilarious. I just wish our library had more of them. The 10 we've checked out over and over again are ... starting to get a little old.

MaBunny - Isn't he though? :)
