Yeah, I'll Just "Keep Her Still"

We all know about how Little Miss broke her arm, right? Go back and read the recap if necessary. It's ... special.

Originally, the doctor told us that she'd be in a cast for four weeks. When we went to the one week checkup, the ortho told me it would be six weeks. My mom took her to the next appointment since we were in Italy, and he told her four weeks (again). Needless to say, the four week appointment was met with great anticipation and excitement. And just a little trepidation.

The doctor explained that he was going to take her cast off because it was healing but that he was going to give her a splint (the bottom half of her cast) and wrap it in an Ace bandage. This would allow her to regain a little of the movement and use of her arm to prevent long term problems on that front.

As he was explaining this, he gestured her over to the exam table so he could begin to cut off the cast. Though there was a stool there for children to climb up, Little Miss ran at the table then took a leap and scrambled up - ignoring the stool that I'm pretty sure didn't even register in her brain - just as the doctor finished explaining that she could have the splint off for a few hours each day so long as it was a time when she was sitting quiet and still to avoid any risk of rebreaking or damaging her arm.

I merely pointed and laughed. What else could I do?

PS Happy Birthday, Little Miss!
