I've Found The Source

Well, I think I've finally found the source of the time warp in my house. This explains so much. I never have to feel badly about being late again. Time moves differently in my house, and it isn't my fault.

I blame my dishwasher.

My dishwasher runs an eighty-two minute cycle from start to finish -- or so it says on the digital timer on the front. I have photographic evidence that this is the source of my problem. Check it out:

See, I started the cycle at 11:41am.

I checked it at 12:08pm. Twenty-seven minutes later, and:

Bummer. My dishwasher still thinks we have eighty-two minutes left. It's made zero progress. I gave it lots of extra time. It's now 1:49pm. That's an hour and forty-one minutes later -- one hundred one minutes for those who think better this way. Is my eighty-two minute cycle done?

Nope, we still have sixteen minutes left. Hmmmmm.

Yep, it's finally done. See the nice green dot light?

And it's only 2:07. See? My eighty-two minute cycle took one hundred forty-six minutes. Now ummm, I'm late for meeting a friend for a late afternoon snack. Gotta run! I don't know where the time went!

Hilarious! I need to find something like that in MY house to blame all my tardiness on. LOL.

I think my dishwasher plays with my time too! It seems to go on forever. Glad that you found your house's time thief :)

I wish we really could gain time. How nice would that be?

I think your dishwasher is onto something.

My dishwasher just doesn't get the dishes clean. But it can tell time.

LOL I agree. When you said your dishwasher runs an 82 minute cycle, I thought, wow, that's fast, because I know ours takes like two hours... too funny. Ours does not have a digital display, but it does get incredibly loud toward the end of the cycle (no explanation for this, from the "quietest dishwasher in the world"...ha!! So at least I know about when it is going to be finished. Sigh. Then it will be time to empty it. Possibly my least favorite chore of all time!

Aha! You shouldn't have made this public - now everyone knows you know. :)

My time thief is my car - it's clock slows down quickly, so a week after I reset it, it's ten minutes slow again.

Angie - Keep looking. You know it's there somewhere!

septembermom - I found it. Now I just need to find a way to get it back!

Karen - Oh, it would be wonderful. I wouldn't be stressing about the eighteen things I need to do today, of which I'll get maybe two or three actually done!

anymommy - Wait, are you siding with the dishwasher? Hey!

Debbie - Ok, given that choice, I'll go for the clean dishes. Point well taken.

Angela - Really? That's your least favorite chore? I'm so cool with emptying the dishwasher. I don't do bathrooms, I don't do garbage, I don't wash dishes, I hate mowing the lawn... even laundry ranks lower than emptying the dishwasher in my world!

Ryan Ashley Scott - Interesting. My car clock had been consistently five minutes fast, which I was ok with. Now it's six minutes fast lately. But at least you'll get where you're going on time because you never know what time it actually is? Or is that wishing for too much?
