What Are You Really Good At?

I think I must be a philosopher at heart.  I love answering these types of questions.  This week Brandi Jeter from Mama Knows It All asks:

Besides being a mother, what are you really, really good at?

I thought it was going to be an easy question to answer.  I mean, c'mon, I'm a pretty accomplished person, right?  Apparently not so much since the first fifteen things I thought of all had to do with being a mother.  I finally came up with a good one.  And I think it's something you didn't know about me.  I even admit to being a dork and proud of it.

I'm pretty good at spreadsheets, too...I'm assistant treasurer at our church and I create the spreadsheet for the year's weekly income for our church each year and I even have the monthly (on page 2) and the cumulative (on page 3) bar graphs showing actual compared to budgeted general income. I love creating them and making the formulas for everything, but that's partly because I'm a math nerd/former h.s. math teacher.

Let's see....what else am I really, really good at? Hmmm...I guess it would be grammar, spelling, and punctuation. I'm NOT good at home decorating or landscaping or art, but I am good at spotting apostrophe abuse and the ubiquitous incorrect use of the word "lay," as in "I'm going to lay down." One should say, "I'm going to lie down." sorry, TMI.

I love a good spreadsheet too! They are such a nice way to make a chaotic world a little bit neat, a little bit orderly and a lot bit manageable.

So, perhaps that makes me a "control freak" dork.

Horses and spreadsheets...love it!

It was so cute hearing your voice. Us bloggers get to know each other through words, but yet never to get hear one another.
I have only been horse back riding once. I loved it, not sure why I haven't been on a horse again,.

Pat - That wasn't TMI at all. I'm another grammar snob. I saw an article today that had "effect" in place of "affect" and just cringed ;)

Molly - Why does this not surprise me about you whatsoever? I'm with you on the control freak side, as well.

Alisa - It's an interesting combination, no?

Tami - Aww thank you! The vlog series is fun. And no, we don't get to hear each other - and in my case see each other - very often. It's nice to add a little more humanity sometimes.

I loved this vlog. I'm too camera-shy for doing something like this, though. What am I really good at? I guess I'm also a grammar nerd. I have so many pet peeves about punctuation uses. I do make some mistakes every now and then, but usually due to carelessness. At least I do take the time to look up something if I'm not sure about it. I was thinking about writing a Top Ten Grammar Pet Peeve post, but I think I may offend some people.

I'm also very good at knitting and wasting time on the computer. =)
