Little Miss Smartypants

I'm giving away our new favorite book - Is Your Buffalo Ready for Kindergarten here.

I have a new giveaway up for a Monopoly board game here.

Today, I noticed that Little Miss was wearing a dress for the third day in a row. I was hoping that perhaps my discussion of her tomboy ways and needing an alien lunchbox might have subconsciously rubbed off on her and her hatred of skirts and dresses (since I have only been able to find a single pair of navy dress pants for girls that she needs for her school uniform).

I commented to her on it, and asked her:

Little Miss, I noticed you're wearing a dress again. Did you decide you like dresses now?

No. I do not like dresses, Mommy.

Ummm, if you don't like dresses, why are you wearing them?

Because I want to get rid of them.

Get rid of them? What do you mean?

Well, once I wear them, they go in the closet, and I won't have to wear them again.

Ahhhhh.

It all becomes clear. My little angel would only wear her Vikings jersey and a couple other soccer and such shirts last school year. I finally had to tell her that clean clothes only went back into her closet and into the rotation after she'd worn her other clothes. Instead, the clean clothes were hung on the rack over the washing machine.

Someone thinks too much.

Of course, she hasn't realized that come Tuesday she'll only be wearing her uniform, so dress or not becomes a non-issue. Shhhhhh!

I won't tell her.

It's funny how they go through phases of no pants or no dresses. Uniforms ought to send her right over the edge! I think Lands End has uniform clothing....

She's a smart one for sure :) Looks very cute in that dress.

I think Sears does too. Good luck with the uniform. Hope it fares better than the dress ;)

You can't find the pants? Ask around at the school. I'm sure they know where to look. Also, look in the boys' sections. They have way more navy pants and there isn't any difference, really.

she is adorable!!! I love how children learn to reason, sometimes they make more sense than most adults! I hope she has a good year at school, I miss my girls, it will be nice to see my new little freshman come in!

Sounds like the gears are always turning in her head! Maybe she'll be an athlete some day.

When my kids were in school, I would have loved having to only worry about uniforms.

Your Little Miss is quick. Good for her, maybe not so good for you.

Boy, she's a thinker, isn't she?

Unknown Mami - Please don't. I don't think she could live with the disappointment.

Sue - Oh this is no phase. Or if it is, it's a five year long one. She has NEVER been into dresses.

Kelly - Awww, thanks. Unfortunately, she won't believe anyone who tells her that though.

Patty - Ohhh the uniform has been... a challenge. More on that tomorrow.

Tracey - Nope, no pants. I did find out that one friend cleared out the VH Penney's on Friday (we went Sat) but few girls at school refuse the skirts apparently.

Chef Dennis - Thank you! And YES she's learned to reason. Apparently my idea of using Socratic Method with her young isn't paying off quite how I'd expected ;)

Pat - Ummmm yeah. The gears are turning. And she's got a good shot at being an athlete!

Tara - Now THAT is the best point anyone has brought up yet. Thank you.

Lucy - Ohhhhhhh she is :)

Karen - Yep. And when she's older and has more experience, I am scared. VERY scared.
