It's A No Brainer

Quick, go play here to enter my fun giveaway!

***

Yeah. Sooooo we got Mister Man's school photos home in his backpack yesterday.

We're getting retakes.

No questions asked, we're getting retakes. But really, what was the photographer thinking taking the photo when he wasn't even close to smiling? *sigh*

What was your worst school photo?

PS That would be my mom doing his hair, etc. I was in the office at work on the day he had the photos taken.

Well, I'm certainly not going to show it to you! :)

(maybe if you ask nicely, in person...then I might.)

morninglight mama November 6, 2009 at 3:34 PM

Aw, that's actually pretty darn cute!! :)

MaBunny November 6, 2009 at 4:10 PM

We didn't like Nicoles school pics this year either and are having them redone. Hope your retakes are better!

Hyacynth November 6, 2009 at 5:10 PM

Awww, I really like that picture. It's not traditional, but he looks so darn adorable.

Dude, that is one seriously handsome little man. And those retakes are da bomb, no?

septembermom November 6, 2009 at 5:52 PM

He's still a handsome fellow! I was happy that all my kids actually looked somewhat normal in their school pictures this year. Usually, there is at least one with a crooked smile :)

I see nothing wrong with this pic . . .

Of course, at 47-years-old, I'm still the guy who cuts up in every photo ever taken. It drives my mom crazy. I continue to "ruin" family pictures. I really can't help myself. I loved the pre-digital age when no one knew what I'd done until the film was developed. Now I get busted on the spot.

That said, I don't think I've ever taken a bad picture, but maybe that's because I'm trying for nostril shots and goofy smiles. =)

Well, I don't know if it was the worst school photo, but I know my Mom sent a note to school saying to photograph me from the side because I had cold sore in one corner of my mouth. It's kind of hysterically funny to see the whole class photo, everyone photographed facing forward, and me, looking up and smiling from the side.
Moms!

School pictures always turn out lousy. What a waste of cash.

my older kids are in love with the new "airbrush" option on their school photos. Sometimes these "real" shots are the best ones. Gotta toss them in a drawer to be rediscovered and laughed at someday...

You'd think the photog would look at the photo and say, "Let's do another one." However, I agree with morninglight mama...I think it's pretty darn cute!

Pat November 7, 2009 at 12:47 PM

One year I was a parent volunteer when photos were being taken and the photog actually said, "Hey, meatball, smile" in a cutesy voice. That sounded pretty rude to me, even though she said it in a singsongy voice, and it did to my son also, who was about 8 or 9.

It is cute, but I can see why you are opting for re-takes. I wish we could just skip school pictures . . . I didn't even look at Cooper's twice last year (the ones we did not order.)

As for me . . . I don't know that any of the pictures were horrible - it was more the Dorothy Hamil bowl-cut that was horrible.

Oh my! We are getting our pictures back soon. You should read a similar post Anti Super mom did about her son's school pictures. Some day you can totally use this for teenage embarrassment. :-)

Melisa - Ohhh pretty please? I'm definitely going to have to remember to ask you!

Dawn - You think? He looks like someone gave him novocaine :)

Marcy - I've never had them redone even when questionable before, but these are ... needing improvement. They can't be worse, right (I just jinxed myself)

Hyacynth - Definitely not traditional, and we've got many many of those. These are the few pics I actually want TO be traditional ;)

Karen - I love retakes. Of course I'd also like Mommy present veto the digital image retakes, but I suppose that's asking a little much!

Kelly - Gotta love it when they learn how to smile for the camera. It's a skill I'm still struggling with.

Tom - I think I like your strategy. I tend to not look actually like myself in photos, so maybe this is the solution.

Carol Lynn - Love it. And I'm impressed that you followed her instructions so well. I think.

WeaselMomma - And bah humbug ;) I'm guessing you didn't get photos for your kids this year?

thatgirlblogs - There IS an airbrush option? I need that for my photos at home, too. Hmmm

Pat - Yes, you would think the photographer would know that was a nasty pic. But I'm glad someone thinks it's cute :)

Nichole - We save them in the memory book, the class picture gets named and renamed and stories told about the friends -- and the grandparents and aunt and uncle insist on their share of photos. So we oblige.

Spot On Your Pants - Oh I've got PLENTY of photos for teenage embarrassment already. Far better than this, of course. Am I an evil mom?
