Shhhh! I Don't Want To Hear It

Sometimes, we all need a vacation. Technically, right now I don't need a real vacation, I just need a momcation. I don't need or want to be away from the wee ones, but ... I need them to just be a little less ummm childlike. For just a little bit. Just for this weekend.

I just need to have a tiny bit of peace and quiet before a stressful week starts next week. I know it isn't really possible, but a girl can dream, can't she?

So may I present my list of

Top Ten Things I Could Really Go Without Hearing This Weekend:

10) I think I just had an accident.
9) S/He just _______ (to) me!
8) I'm bleeding!
7) Where's my __________?*
6) What's for dinner?*
5) Oops!
4) But I'm too tiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeedddddddddd to ________.
3) Wahhhh!
2) But why doesn't s/he have to ___________?

And the Number One thing I don't want to hear this weekend?

1) Mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom!

* These items also apply to my husband in addition to the wee ones.

I totally agree!

Ohhh, if you're escaping to a really nice island or something, I want to come, too! This week has just been such a challenging week for us, too. Hope you get some RandR.

Can I join you on your momcation? The kids are driving me crazy this week. Fights and complaints. I'm wiped out:)

I'd have to add to your list. You don't near to hear a large crash in the the other room, followed by "I'm Okay". That happens around 3x a day around here and is never good.

I must be nuts or something but those are the very things I crave to hear again. (sometimes)

Hope you are able to find some little chunks of peace and quiet along the way this weekend :-)

DITTO! Hotels would be wise to rent rooms out at a Mom-price . . . I don't need any of the fancy ammeneties - just a bed, a bathtub and a television.

School begins WHEN?
:)

Tara R. August 15, 2009 at 4:10 PM

Oh my! It never ends. I still hear every one of those from my two kids - 16 and 20! Can I come on a momcation too?

Claudya Martinez August 15, 2009 at 4:26 PM

Good luck with that!

That brought back so many memories of wishing for a break from kids. With husband and 3 sons, it felt like sometimes I had 4 boys who all wanted my attention at the same time. I would determine who asked first, say his name and point to him for his request and reply, then do the same for 2nd, 3rd and 4th requesters. My husband was sometimes annoyed that he was 2nd, not first.

Debbie August 15, 2009 at 6:29 PM

Amen! And why is it the husbands are just as bad as the kids?

Love it. I'm going to institute a ban on those phrases in my house for the weekend...it will never work.

Michelle August 16, 2009 at 2:26 PM

Melissa - Should we institute a strike? I'm thinking we aren't alone!

Cookie - Sign up on the strike list with the rest of us.

Hyacynth - Ummm, yeah. No island, sadly. I promise to let you know if I manage to make it to an island though.

Kelly - Yep, you're on the list!

WeaselMomma - Ohhhh yeah. That's never good. Fortunately(?) we never have that happen around here. The wee ones are convinced they're NEVER ok. Ever.

Megryansmom - From a distance, I'm sure I'd miss them terribly, and I don't want them to go away forever, but there are times I need to a break from it just for a couple days.

Martha - Right now is one of those chunks. The wee ones are both asleep. Yay!

Nichole - They'd have to add an option for a massage though. I can't use bathtubs in hotels though. The thought of all the other people who've been in there skeeves me out.

Melisa - August 24 for Mister Man and the 31st for Little Miss.

Tara - You're welcome to join us, but only if you promise to lie and tell me that it goes away when they get older.

Unknown Mami - Yeah, I have to admit that we didn't even get past the first evening of the weekend. What can you do?

Pat - Hey, at least your husband was second and not fourth! That's a plus, right?

Debbie - I don't know, but I'd REALLY like to be able to figure it out. At least I know it isn't just my husband ;)

Stacey - Uhhh good luck to you with that one. I hope you're more successful at it than I was!

Mrs4444 August 19, 2009 at 10:34 PM

I hope you got your wish! :)

Angie's Spot August 23, 2009 at 7:52 PM

Amen sister. After the weekend I just had, I could use a break from all 10 of these and about 6 more. LOL!

Michelle August 31, 2009 at 9:51 PM

Barb - You've got kids. Are you serious? I'd need to send them ... away for the weekend for that to happen!

Angie - Ooo that doesn't sound good. Here's hoping the next weekends have been better.
