She Did What?

I had choir practice this morning, and let's just say that we tend to have fun. So much fun, in fact, that one member had to give up puns for Lent. And we periodically do nearly as much, if not more, talking than singing in practice.

After rehearsing a song for Maundy Thursday, one of the members asked if the altos (they're always so much trouble!) could get help with a few notes. She was having a hard time in one place where they go from an F sharp to a B.

The choir director, played the F sharp B B B. And then continued for a few more beats. Does this sound familiar? he asked.

Ummm, yeah. It's Here Comes The Bride.

The woman who was having trouble and giggled. Yeah, I've heard that one a couple times.

The choir director rejoined, Well, you might want to work on that so you don't have to hear it again.

She blushed. I've taken care of both of them, one way or the other.

We all laughed at that one. And that kind of tells you how irreverent this choir is.

Yeah. Because you could say that she has taken care of her husbands. She divorced one husband when she was young, and her longtime husband died about four years ago.

On the plus side, none of the altos had trouble hitting that series of notes after this exchange.

Choir practice must be filled with laughs all the time! It must be nice to spend time with such a fun group. And you guys can sing too :)

I always had so much fun when I was involved with choirs. And the altos, myself being one, were always "trouble!"

Sounds like one of those things where you can't help but laugh, mostly because you know you aren't supposed to laugh - and everything that's funny seems even funnier. I can't believe she actually said that - what a riot.

HAHA, I surely would have burst out in giggles at that too!

LOL Glad everyone has a good sense of humor! That's pretty funny. I could not place the notes in my mind (piano lessons were a LONG time ago, and I am not a great singer) but as soon as you said the title I can totally "hear"it now!

Singing in a choir is so much fun! Thanks for stopping by my blog recently and entering my giveaway. You'll have to come back to see if you've won! :)

Giving up puns for Lent? She really must be punny! OK, that was bad. Sorry about that! It's a cold and rainy Sunday...just thought I'd brighten your day!

septembermom - We do have a lot of fun... or I would have left long ago. But the singing part? Sometimes I wonder ;)

Heather - At least you'll admit it. And we sopranos will do our part by admitting that the world revolves around us.

Ryan Ashley Scott - Well, yeah... and picture her as a sweet old (late sixties, early seventies) woman. That's the best part, I think.

MaBunny - Yeah... how can you not?

Angela - Glad you can hear it. And I hope that -- just like me -- it's stuck in your head for the next day.

Jaime - It is a lot of fun, although this year is the first time I've sung at all (in a choir) since ninth grade.

Veggie Mom - Ohhh, she is. She's got some great ones. Like the one about the Eskimo who built a fire in his boat and it sank. Moral? You can't have your kayak and heat it, too. Ba dump bump.
