Things That Make Me Go Hmmmm...

I'm exhausted, we have a blizzard forecast and I stupidly went out to a yoga class tonight in the snow. You get a really short one from me today!

Every week when I go to work (because I'm only in the office one day a week, after all!), I park in nearly the same spot. I suppose we all have our spots where we park. We have the same marker we use to remember, we walk past the same cars day after day, and we start to notice things that stand out.

Like one of the senior executives at my company. His car is parked just a few cars away from mine every morning. It's easy to tell whose car it is because he has a ... quite distinctive license plate.

Every morning, I walk past this red Cadillac with the distinctive license plate. Most mornings, I think nothing of it beyond noticing that it's there.

Then there are the days when it's snowed.

On those days, it's even easier to pick out than normal. It's the only car in the vicinity that is covered in snow.

Two things about that strike me as odd.

First, he's an executive. He makes wayyyyyyy more money than I do. He's also way older than I am, which means that he's been making way more money than me for way longer. So I just don't get it. Why does the man not have a garage to park his car in?

Second, the car is literally covered in snow. You can see just a little of the rear windshield and sometimes some of the side windows. The trunk is piled high with snow. The roof seems like it could cave in for all the thick white stuff piled atop it. Even that distinctive license plate isn't visible. How does he manage to drive all the way to work without the snow falling off his car? And (personal pet peeve) why doesn't he just quickly scrape the snow off?

Today, his car was piled high with snow. Because, you know, it snowed on Saturday. Two days ago. I'm still wrapping my mind around this one.

I'm sure his car has so much snow is that all the other four cars, his wife's and daughters', are parked in the garage in this kind of weather. He probably has a million dollar home on an acreage and drives an hour to work on the lovely country roads that lead to his subdivision. I cleaned my car off yesterday before we drove home from dear friends living in the country, and by the time we got home the back windshield, in fact the whole car looked like I had been in a blizzard, lol!

Thanks for visiting my Welcome to Alberta blog! I was at first going to mention that even during the mad cow disease, Albertans ate their beef, lol! Oh, and there is so much more - I thought 20 was already too many points.

I was going to say that too, about his garage being full of other cars. And maybe his household help doesn't get up early enough to scrape off his car before he leaves? Just a guess. :(

More likely: he is living beyond his means. (maybe?)

Hmm, that is odd.. I know snow brushes/scrapers don't cost that much. Weird...

karin - You make a good point that this is probably just his "work" car and that all his other cars are in the garage :)

Melisa - Ooo, good point. Maybe he needs to train his servants better ;) (You know: the wee ones in another five years or so for me.)

MaBunny - Nope, the snowbrushes and all aren't expensive. Probably he just has too much work to do to spend the 3 minutes scraping off his car. Or not.

That is funny! I agree with the others, their other 6 cars are parked in the garage. And maybe he is like me, I HATE to clean snow off my car so I brush a small peephole and start driving. But I would think and exec wouldn't be as lazy as me.

Funny! I'm guilty of the same, I hate knocking snow off of my car, it gets all in my shirt and shoes.

Irene - C'mon. You know what it's like when it's snowy and people around you are driving with snow blowing off every which way. I'm surprised at you :)

anymommy - Apparently you aren't alone! But apparently you need a few lessons on technique. I've never gotten snow in my shoes or shirt when removing snow from my vehicle!

Maybe its his pet project. To see how much it can hold. Then he can get rid of his mid-life crisis car without guilt.

Elftea - Ooooo, good theory! I like that one. Although, I never really thought of Cadillac (Grandpa's car) as a midlife crisis car, but it IS red! ;)
